Summary Report
Claude autonomously designs protein binders with experimentally validated results for 14 of 15 drug targets, a 27% hit rate tested by external labs.
- 01. Uses established computational biology tools like RFdiffusion, ProteinMPNN and AlphaFold rather than an entirely new method
- 02. Part of Claude Science, with Anthropic now working to get Claude running the entire drug development process end to end
Anthropic says Claude can now autonomously design protein binders, the molecules that let drugs bind tightly to a specific target in the body. In tests against 15 biological targets, Claude generated experimentally validated binders for 14 of them, synthesised and tested by external labs Adaptyv Bio and Twist Bioscience.
