Opus 5.5 fast mode is out of research preview and the waitlist is gone: the same Opus 5.5, up to 2.5x faster, at $8 per million input tokens and $40 per million output, double the standard price. It's on the Claude Platform and Microsoft Foundry, with Google Cloud coming soon. Claude Code now compresses the conversation it sends every turn and cloud sessions start as you type. Anthropic says the wait to first token is 3x shorter in Claude Code (about 4s to 1.3s), 2.8x in cloud sessions and 1.5x in Claude chat, Cowork and the API.
