Summary Report
EngineAI's T800 humanoid walked with SWAT at Shenzhen's MixC mall. Behind the RoboCop cosplay: a $1.4B startup, Apple supplier Luxshare as backer, and 5,000 robots planned this year.
- 01. EngineAI's T800 humanoid robot appeared alongside SWAT officers at MixC mall in Shenzhen, the second high-profile police-themed demo since December.
- 02. The 173-cm, 75-kg robot retails for around $25,000, dramatically undercutting Figure, Apptronik, and Boston Dynamics on price.
- 03. EngineAI closed a $200 million Series B in April 2026 led by Apple supplier Luxshare Precision, pushing valuation past $1.4 billion.
- 04. The Shenzhen startup, founded in October 2023, is targeting 4,000 to 5,000 T800 units shipped in 2026 and 30,000+ annually by 2027.
- 05. The 'SWAT' pairing is a promotional demonstration, not a real police deployment - matching the December 2025 Window of the World stunt.
A humanoid robot made headlines this week when it was filmed walking alongside SWAT officers at MixC, a luxury shopping centre in Shenzhen. The robot, EngineAI's T800, takes its name from the iconic Terminator franchise but appears to be auditioning for a more RoboCop-like role in real-world policing.
EngineAI, a Shenzhen-based startup that was founded just three years ago, has positioned the T800 as an affordable alternative to established players like Boston Dynamics and Figure. Standing 173 centimetres tall and weighing 75 kilograms, the T800 retails for approximately $25,000—significantly undercutting the competition whilst offering practical functionality that surpasses fictional counterparts like ED-209.
This shopping centre appearance follows a similar demonstration in December at Window of the World theme park, where a T800 robot walked with police officers in what officials described as a technology demonstration. The latest deployment appears nearly identical, though the robot now sports more professional attire suited to its law enforcement role.
The spectacle masks a serious business story. EngineAI secured $200 million in Series B funding in April, with notable backing from Luxshare, a key Apple supplier. The company has set ambitious production targets, aiming to manufacture between 4,000 and 5,000 units this year. This aggressive scaling suggests confidence in market demand for affordable humanoid robots, particularly in security and public safety applications where the T800's capabilities can be immediately deployed.
