Google has launched Pics, a new AI image creation and editing tool built into Workspace, powered by Nano Banana 2. It lets you edit individual objects, translate text in place, and collaborate on a shared canvas. It segments objects automatically, so you can move, resize, recolour, or swap things in a few clicks. Google Pics lives in Drive and Slides, letting Workspace teams edit images together. You can swap a dog for a cat, change the colour of one object, or edit and translate text whilst keeping the original font and layout. Google's pitch is that AI image generation should feel less like spinning a slot machine and more like editing. Anyone who's wrestled with a generator knows the pain - nine slightly wrong images before one passable one. It puts Google directly in front of Canva and Adobe Express, with the same flyers-and-infographics pitch and a much bigger Workspace install base. Preview opens this summer for AI Pro, Ultra, and Workspace business.
