Summary Report
OpenAI's autonomous pipeline produced working exploits and patches for 948 Linux kernel bugs in one $1.2M run.
- 01. 948 working local privilege escalation exploits, each with a patch
- 02. About $1.2M in API credits, roughly $1,300 per bug; model unreleased
OpenAI's security researchers built a pipeline that finds, exploits and patches Linux kernel bugs on its own. In one run with an unreleased cyber model, it audited about 7% of the kernel and produced working exploits for 948 local privilege escalation vulnerabilities, each with a patch. The run cost about $1.2 million in API credits, roughly $1,300 per bug. OpenAI says it's working with Linux maintainers on fixes. It hasn't said when or to whom the model will be released.
