Palmer Luckey has co-founded Warhound with Colossal Biosciences' Ben Lamm, a startup that wants to genetically engineer dogs for the US military. It came out of stealth with $200 million in seed funding led by Sequoia at a $1.2 billion valuation. Warhound says more than 80% of US military working dogs come from Europe and fewer than half are fit for service. It plans to bank cells from top Belgian Malinois and German Shepherds and use Colossal's cloning and gene editing to breed better ones, with Anduril supplying protective gear. First puppies are due in early 2027.
