Summary Report
Antigravity with Gemini 4 Argon ported FVCOM's core solver from Fortran to Rust in 59 minutes, finding six bugs.
- 01. Core solver ported in 59 minutes, matching output to 12 decimal places
- 02. 1.88x faster, 54% less memory, six latent bugs found; agent wrote its own tests
Google's Antigravity team asked its agent, running Gemini 4 Argon, to port FVCOM, a coastal ocean model of around 175,000 lines, from Fortran to Rust. The agent rewrote the core solver in 59 minutes, matched the original's output to 12 decimal places, and ran 1.88x faster with 54% less memory. It also found six latent bugs in the original, including an overflow on larger grids. It's Google's own test on one codebase, and the agent wrote its own tests.
